Location and Parking

Location

The Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium is located on the University of Minnesota campus in Duluth, Minnesota. We're on the corner of College Street and University Drive. The planetarium can be found right next to parking lot A on the UMD campus. It is located to the west of Marshall W. Alworth Hall and the Life Science building. An interactive map of the UMD campus is also available. 

Parking

There are two parking lots near the planetarium: Gold Lot A and Maroon Lot B .

Weekdays 6am - 5pm: Parking at meters ONLY. Parking in non-metered spaces is not allowed during this time without a parking permit.

Weekdays after 5pm and Weekends: Free parking is available in any of the lots and parking meters are free.

Summer: Free parking is available in Maroon Lot B.

Accessible: Parking services allows up to 3 hours of parking in spots with a blue accessible parking sign or at any meter for those displaying an accessible license plate or temporary accessible permit. Visit UMD Transportation & Parking Services for additional information.

Buses: Buses can drop off and pickup people in Lot A at the planetarium building entrance. They then need to be parked at Bus Parking located down University Dr near the tennis courts and football field.

Directions from Interstate 35

  1. Exit #258 (21st Ave. East), go left.
  2. Follow 21st Ave. East up the hill about 1 mile.
  3. Take a right onto Woodland Ave.
  4. Take a left onto College St.
  5. Follow College St. to University Drive and turn right.
  6. The Planetarium is on your left (in parking lot A).
