Electrical Engineering Research

Student Research

In addition to teaching classes, our faculty are passionate about research.

They encourage students to get involved and expand on what they learn in the classroom by assisting them with their efforts and guide undergraduates interested in pursuing their own research projects through programs likeĀ UROP.

Student research can have real world implications as demonstrated by a group of our electrical engineering students that participated in theĀ Air Force Research Lab Challenge. The 2017 team created a robotic pack mule that the military now uses and may replicate in order to help soldiers haul heavy equipment over rough terrain.

Faculty Research

Areas ofĀ faculty researchĀ include:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Microelectronics
  • Semi-conductor nanostructures
  • Robotics
  • Microprocessor applications
  • Energy conversion
  • Fiber optics
  • Medical instrumentation
  • Transportation data systems
  • Wireless sensor networks
  • Biomedical engineering
  • Power system stability

These are just a few examples, meaning our students are exposed to a wide array of knowledge that will prepare them for various career paths and graduate school.
