We are a group of faculty dedicated to improving our campus climate.
Established in 2021 as the Allies & Advocates program, the group is made up of three women faculty that act as an advisory board: Dr. Mary Christiansen, Dr. Eve Metto, and Dr. Kathryn Schreiner.
They partner with male faculty to propose and help implement activities that further gender equity and improve our college's climate. They are: Dr. Harsh Jain, Dr. Michael Pluimer, Dr. Dave Saftner, Dr. Jake Wainman, and Dr. Pete Willemsen.
- Host training, listening sessions and activities designed to help build community and build the skills amongst fellow faculty to identify inequity and biases and react appropriately.
- Examine Swenson College policies and practices to look for opportunities to address inequities and create a more equitable work and learning environment.
- Share data and research around issues of equity to broaden perspective and provide helpful resources for our campus community.
- Provide the means for faculty to get involved, share their stories and ideas and connect with one another around these issues to foster greater understanding and opportunities for growth from the ground up.
