We are excited about the opportunities for students that choose our programs. Student Learning Outcomes

Our Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET. We're one of only two accredited Computer Science Bachelor Degree programs in the state of MN!

We strive to create productive professionals in the computing field or to go on to further education. We help them learn the skills necessary to work effectively on teams, take on leaderships roles and pursue life-long learning opportunities. The University of Minnesota Duluth offers a program that provides students with the following upon graduation:

  1. An understanding of the mathematics and statistics that underlie scientific applications.

  2. Ability to design, develop, and analyze significant software systems.

  3. An understanding of the fundamentals of computer systems organization.

  4. An understanding of the fundamentals of data structures and related algorithms.

  5. An understanding of the application of programming languages in computer systems.

  6. Ability to apply computer science principles and practices to a variety of problems.

  7. Ability to work independently and also work effectively in teams.

  8. Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.

  9. An understanding of social, professional and ethical issues related to computing.

  10. Knowledge of contemporary issues in the arts, social sciences, and humanities.

  11. An understanding of the scientific method and how to apply this mode of inquiry in a laboratory setting.

  12. A broad perspective of the business world.
