Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends each year the department is able to award scholarships our hardworking and talented students.
Current students may also apply for scholarships available to undergraduate full-time students enrolled in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering by visiting the
Swenson College of Science and Engineering scholarship web page.
Scholarships offered by organizations outside of the University of Minnesota Duluth are also available. (See the scholarship opportunity at the bottom of the page.)
In the spring semester, current UMD computer science students are notified via email about applying for scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Additional information for eligibility and the application form are included below:
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for an academic scholarship, you must:
- Be a CS major with sophomore or junior standing for the 24-25 academic year.

Application Information Use
All information on the application form is private. The information requested will be used for identification and to determine scholarship consideration. By submitting the form,
- You certify that the information provided on the application is, to the best of your knowledge, accurate and true,
- You certify that all required documentation is provided,
- You authorize the release of application information to internal and external selection committee members as may be required to determine your eligibility for a scholarship, and
- You digitally sign, date, and agree to the statements above.
How Application Criteria Are Used
For some scholarships that are funded by private donation, preference is given to students who have special interests or backgrounds. The information requested for these purposes is voluntary and will be used by the Awards Committee for the sole purpose of evaluating applicants of these specific awards and scholarships.

Disbursement
You must be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credits) during the semester you receive your scholarship. All scholarships are disbursed in equal amounts during fall and spring semesters (with exception of summer scholarships).
Affect on Financial Aid
University scholarship awards disburse in accordance with the University's financial aid award policy. Consistent with University policy, the total annual aid amount awarded to a student, including all scholarships and grants, cannot exceed cost of attendance at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
