We are committed to strengthening the personal and professional skills of our students. We do this by:
- Offering rigorous courses that promote critical thinking
- Focusing on problem-solving strategies
- Providing an active learning environment
- Creating opportunities to participate in research
- Promoting activities for networking and teamwork
We also emphasize the importance of connecting with our community, engaging with people outside of our field and the value of being part of university, community and professional organizations.
Mentoring Our Students
Our faculty members are dedicated to ensuring students get the most out of their time in the classroom and in labs.
They often work one-on-one with students and help them plan their college journey to reach their goals.
We enjoy mentoring and teaching lab skills, how to conduct research and how to share results, whether its by writing papers or presenting findings at campus events or regional, state and national conferences.
Our faculty members possess expertise in a wide range of Chemistry & Biochemistry fields including:
- Chemistry Education
- Inorganic and organic chemistry
- Physical chemistry
- Materials Chemistry
They share this knowledge with undergraduate and graduate students via programs like SURP (Summer Undergraduate Research Program) and UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program).
