What should mentoring teams discuss?

It is appropriate for mentoring teams to discuss all aspects of career development, including but not limited to the following:

  • Employing strategies for success and advancement within SCSE and your department
  • Planning, including annual goals and longer-term career goals
  • Developing independent scholarship/research
  • Improving teaching skills
  • Establishing internal and external professional networks in your discipline and in the community
  • Managing career challenges including topics specific to women and underrepresented minority faculty¬†
  • Creating an inclusive environment in the classroom and research group
  • Participating in outreach and service
  • Achieving work-life balance
