What should mentoring teams discuss?
It is appropriate for mentoring teams to discuss all aspects of career development, including but not limited to the following:
- Employing strategies for success and advancement within SCSE and your department
- Planning, including annual goals and longer-term career goals
- Developing independent scholarship/research
- Improving teaching skills
- Establishing internal and external professional networks in your discipline and in the community
- Managing career challenges including topics specific to women and underrepresented minority facultyÂ
- Creating an inclusive environment in the classroom and research group
- Participating in outreach and service
- Achieving work-life balance
