Thesis Research:Â In my research group we synthesize and evaluate novel therapeutic agents. Our main therapeutic target is cancer. In order to proliferate rapidly cancer requires a lot of energy. Because of this they often up-regulate and are over reliant on various metabolic pathways, with major metabolic pathways being glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation. A big project in our group is developing and evaluating metabolic inhibitors in hopes to cut off cancers energetic requirements leading to cancer cell death.
