Research
My lab studies the fundamentals of coupled physical, chemical, and microbiological processes that shape the chemistry and dynamics of aquatic environments. We combine advanced modeling techniques with field measurements to test ideas and understand processes in water columns and bottom sediments of modern lakes, as well as oceans throughout the Earth's geological history. Focus areas include nutrient cycling, anoxia and hypoxia, mixing dynamics of tropical lakes, lake responses to climate change, and reactive-transport modeling of biogeochemical systems.
