Thesis Research: My research is investigating the impact of invasive dreissenid mussels on the nutrient cycling and benthic community structure of the Laurentian Great Lakes. I am studying how material and nutrient exchange between the lake sediment and overlying water differs with and without mussels present and how mussel impact varies seasonally and spatially in the lakes. I am also using my data and published data to model mussel metabolism under differing environmental conditions.
