Allen Mensinger, professor of Biology, is a recipient of the University of Minnesotaā€™s inaugural 2021 Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Awards, which is given to faculty whoā€™ve done significant work to advance equity.

With this, Professor Mensinger receives a one-time $10,000 award to support his work in justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at UMD.

Mensinger was nominated by his colleague Julie Etterson, a Biology professor and department head, who says, ā€œDr. Mensinger has been actively involved in promoting the careers of underrepresented undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers long before this issue became a clear priority in the UM System.ā€ Etterson included several letters of support that attested to Mensingerā€™s commitment to inclusion.
