UMD’s semi-annual Undergraduate Research and Artistic Showcase is being presented on Tuesday, November 13 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Kirby Ballroom and Kirby Garden Room, 1120 Kirby Drive.
The Showcase invites about 30 undergraduates from all five of UMD’s colleges and the U of M system campuses to explain their research, with the aid of posters they’ve developed. This is the final stage in the students’ work, which began with their application for a financial award for research or creative projects pursued in partnership with a faculty member.
Because the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) applications are judged and funding is limited, awards are granted to the strongest proposals.
“This program gives UMD students the chance to work in close collaboration with faculty members, and, at the same time, our professors get a chance to enhance their research by working with smart young individuals,” says Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research Erik Brown.
The showcase also features presentations, information about UMD’s graduate programs, and refreshments. It’s sponsored by UROP.
