Northeast Minnesota STEM Conference
“Celebrations, Barriers, and Solutions to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Access,” hosted by the NE Minnesota STEM Network and the Minnesota Office for Broadband Development, was held on Friday, September 16 at the Pier B Resort, 800 West Railroad Street, in Duluth, Minn.
Business and education stakeholders from across Northeast Minnesota gathered to discuss the successes, barriers and opportunities to increase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) access. Key to this access is broadband infrastructure. Congressperson Rick Nolan, IRRRB Deputy Commissioner Mary Finnegan, and Duluth Mayor Emily Larson spoke at the event.
Attendees included representatives from area colleges and public schools, educational institutions, tourist attractions for children, area STEM businesses and other organizations.

The Minnesota STEM Network, Northeast Region formed in 2012 to address continuing concerns about interest and engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among youth and adults.
