Large Lakes Council

The Large Lakes Council is a dedicated group of supporters for the Large Lakes Observatory (LLO) at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Its membership includes leaders from across Minnesota and the United States—business professionals, educators, scientists, policy experts, philanthropists, and community advocates—who are united by a shared commitment to freshwater science and stewardship.

The Council plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of LLO, from supporting and highlighting student research and faculty excellence to funding innovative fieldwork and outreach programs. Council members will help expand LLO’s impact both locally and globally—on the shores of Lake Superior and across the world’s large lake systems. In addition, the Large Lakes Council will help secure annual discretionary funding for the Large Lakes Observatory to pursue emerging opportunities in science, education, and public engagement.
