My research explores the fluid mechanics of natural and engineered systems. I study sustainable energy harvesting in lake and ocean environments, animal locomotion, flapping wings, and bio-inspired robotics through cyber-physical systems, while also investigating the collective migration of zooplankton, biogenic mixing, and fluid transport in aquatic ecosystems. In addition, my work extends to micro-scale artificial swimmers, multiphase flows, and complex fluids, aiming to uncover fundamental principles that inspire innovative engineering solutions.

I am an affiliate faculty member with the UMD Large Lakes Observatory.
