Jean has worked in the environmental health and safety field for over 20 years and has obtained a certification in both safety (CSP) and industrial hygiene (CIH). She has a wide range of experience in Environmental Health and Safety working in areas such as environmental remediation, construction, mining, process safety, and industrial hygiene.  She has spent the last 7 years working as a safety professional with the University of Minnesota, University Health and Safety (UHS) and recently moved into a safety leadership position with UMD’s Natural Resource Research Institute (NRRI).   

In her current role with NRRI, she is involved with innovative research safety and is an integral part of their positive culture change.  Jean also teaches Industrial Hygiene as an instructor with UMD’s Master of Environmental Health and Safety Program and Introduction to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) with the University of Minnesota’s Construction Management Program.   She enjoys educating others, sharing knowledge, and helping to promote and advance workplace health and safety.
