Dr. Temitope Olorunfemi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. She is from the southwestern part of Nigeria and has focused her work and research on improving the lives of women and girls there. She is currently working on a project titled, “Development of an Automated Dialogue System for Cervical Cancer Risk Awareness and Estimation for Women and Girls in English, Yoruba, and Spanish Languages.” The research centers around health-based educational applications in different languages (Combating Cervical Cancer with Computer Science (ou.edu)). When information on cervical cancer risk estimation and awareness is communicated with these women and girls in their own languages, it can go a long way in preserving their lives and that of a community since they will have a better understanding of the concepts and their associated risk. Her work revolves around machine learning, data science, data analytics, and Natural Language Processing in Artificial Intelligence (AI). She is open to interdisciplinary collaborations and welcomes anyone interested in collaborating. Temi comes from a family of researchers and educators.
