Securian Mathematics Laboratory
Mathematics & Statistics Department
February 2, 2017 marked the grand opening of the Securian Learning Commons and Math Lab
Made Possible by Securian Financial Group
Thanks to the generous donation in 2013 by Securian Financial Group, UMD was able to open its first learning lab to integrate a more hands-on approach to learning math. Its dual room layout equipped with up-to-date technology accommodates 120 students. Securian Financial Group donated $750,000 to the construction process of the SML. The Securian gift was presented in honor of Bob Senkler, a retired CEO of Securian and 1974 UMD graduate.
