Two of our faculty members, Otavio Fortini from Chemical Engineering and Mary Christiansen from Civil Engineering, acquired funding in collaboration with the Research Instrumentation Laboratory for a new X-ray fluorescence spectrometer.
The new instrument, a Rigaku NEX CG, will arrive in March 2017 and be available in UMD's Chemical Engineering Department. It can measure the elemental composition of solid and liquid samples and will be useful for a variety of material research.
