Undergraduate electrical engineering students are encouraged to apply for annual engineering scholarships.

Only Electrical Engineering students may be awarded the following scholarships:

 

UMD Electrical and Computer Engineering Scholarships are made possible thanks to private gifts from alumni, industry and friends of the Department. The number and amount of scholarships are based on annual gifts to the fund.

UMD Thor A. Gustafson Scholarship provides scholarship support for UMD Electrical Engineering students who will be enrolled full time for fall and spring semester and in good academic standing. 

UMD LHB Electrical Engineering Scholarship
Enrolled full-time (fall and spring semesters) in the Swenson College of Science & Engineering Undergraduate Electrical Engineering student entering their junior or senior year of study
Preference will be given to students who will enhance the diversity of the student body as described by the University

UMD Robert J. Marchetti Engineering Scholarship is awarded to one student each academic year. To qualify recipients must show outstanding academic performance, be enrolled as a full-time (fall and spring semesters) UMD electrical engineering student, considered juniors or seniors in their major, have a demonstrated financial need based on FAFSA, and must be an active member of the UMD student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

 

All Electric Engineering students may also be awarded the following scholarships:

 

UMD Donald F. Mowbray Reaching Higher Engineering Scholarship
Enrolled full time (fall and spring semesters) in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering
UMD engineering major in either civil, mechanical, industrial or electrical engineering programs. Able to demonstrate academic merit.  Student with financial need as demonstrated by a completed FAFSA. Student must have graduated from a high school in Duluth or the surrounding area.

UMD MnSPE Arrowhead Chapter UMD Engineering Scholarship
Enrolled in the Swenson College of Science and engineering and have a declared major in civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering.

UMD Johnson Engineering Scholarship
Enrolled in the Swenson College of Science and engineering and have a declared major in civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering. 

UMD Ralph Bertz Engineering Memorial Scholarship
Enrolled in the Swenson College of Science and engineering and have a declared major in civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering. Preference for a student who demonstrates a commitment to outreach in the community.

UMD SCSE Engineering with a Diversity Perspective Scholarship
This scholarship is for a student majoring in civil, mechanical, industrial, chemical or electrical engineering. Double majoring or minoring in: American Indian Studies B.A. American Indian Studies, Tribal Administration and Governance, African and African American Studies, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Studies, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Philosophy or Deaf Studies. 

UMD Robert A. and Mary C. Leppala Scholarship
Enrolled full-time (fall and spring semesters) in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering
Second year undergraduate students, majoring in chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering. Able to demonstrate academic merit and financial need (through a completed FAFSA).

UMD Rebecca Susan Finley (RSF) Memorial Scholarship
Enrolled full-time(spring and fall semesters) in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering
Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year. Studying toward a degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and who are serving in one of the branches of the US Armed Forces, accepted and/or participating in a University ROTC commissioning program, or have served in one of the branches of the US Armed Forces and have been deemed a military veteran.

UMD Andiamo Scholarship for Engineering
Enrolled full-time in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering
Undergraduate degree seeking students. Studying towards a degree in chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering. Able to demonstrate high academic merit (3.0 or greater).

UMD Cirrus Aircraft SCSE Scholarship
Enrolled in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering. Considered students in junior year.
Declared majors of: mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics and computer science.

UMD 44th Engineer Battalion Memorial Scholarship
Enrolled in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering. Declared major in any of the engineering programs offered. Preference for students who have served in a branch of the US military or been accepted into the ROTC commissioning program.

UMD SCSE Roy LaBounty Scholarship
Enrolled in civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering at the Swenson College of Science and Engineering. Able to demonstrate entrepreneurship interest or activities. In good academic standing.

UMD Tom and Dorothy Ferguson Scholarship for Engineering
Enrolled full-time (spring and fall semesters). Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year of study, studying in any area of engineering excluding industrial engineering. Able to demonstrate academic merit which is further defined as having a GPA of 2.6 or better and have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in the energy or biomedical fields. Preference will be given for students who have returned to college following a lapse in their educational study.

UMD TKDA Engineering Scholarship
A junior or senior student at UMD with a civil, electrical or mechanical engineering focus.

UMD Mary Ann and Jerry Ostroski Engineering Scholarship
Enrolled full-time (fall and spring semesters) in the Swenson College of Science & Engineering.
Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year, studying toward a degree in civil, chemical, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering. Preference will be given for students who will contribute to student body diversity.

UMD Rip Rapp Scholarship in Engineering
Enrolled full-time (fall and spring semesters) in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering. Undergraduate students in their junior or senior year, studying toward a degree in the field of engineering. Preference will be given for students who will contribute to student body diversity.
