Join us to Celebrate Our 50th Anniversary

Saturday, June 10th

The Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium first opened its doors to the public in 1967.  It was dedicated in June of 1967.  This June, therefore, marks the 50th anniversary of the Planetarium.  We will be celebrating this milestone with an evening banquet and a program at UMD's Kirby Ballroom on June 10th.

The evening will start with a social hour at 5:30 pm, followed by a served dinner and program at 6:30 pm. The cost is $30 per person.

The evening's menu will be:

Breaded Chicken Dijon - Tender breast of chicken coated with Panko bread crumbs and toasted golden brown
Roasted baby red potatoes
Served with a house salad

Appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
The evening's program will consist of student speakers talking about their experiences working in the Planetarium as well as a brief talk from Burcin Mutlu-Pakdil about her discovery of a new type of galaxy.
Anyone is welcome to attend, but pre-registration is required by Monday, June 5 at www.z.umn.edu/mwap50 .
